Mike Najafi is a passionate energy modeler and has extensive experience in optimizing building energy performance in order to create high performance buildings. He believes in integrated building design approach when architect, building system engineers, sustainability and energy consultants and the construction team collaborate from the very early stages of design to create a successful project. He has over 20 years of experience working in the AEC industry with more than10 years as a professional energy modeler.

During this time, he has developed energy models for a wide range of projects across the United States and around the globe which includes, recreational centers, embassies, hotels, K12 schools, commercial offices, distribution centers, Refrigerated Warehouses, high-rise Condominiums, and higher education facilities.

As a Building Energy Analyst, his responsibilities include supporting the design team throughout a holistic approach to select/design optimized building orientation/geometry, and building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. This is accomplished through development of energy models, evaluating alternative engineering systems and building envelopes and developing life cycle cost comparisons

The last ten years of Mike’s career, he has used his high-performance design experience as a tool for moving building projects onto a sustainability-focused path by utilizing programs such the LEED Rating System. He has completed over 65 LEED Certificate projects with over 10 million square feet. He has also assisted design teams on many other high-performance projects to achieve their energy performance targets.
