Sheila’s primary passion is reducing energy use in buildings with a view that implementing early design energy modeling to assist design teams in making decisions provides the biggest opportunity for ensuring an energy efficient, sustainable project with the least impact on the environment. Over the last 20 years, she has provided energy modeling services for over 100 projects seeking LEED certification including commercial, educational, healthcare, natatorium, airport, distribution/warehouse, manufacturing, government, waste-water treatment, and high-rise residential throughout the United States, as well as Italy, South Korea, and Colombia. In addition to LEED certification, Sheila has assisted projects towards achieving Net-Zero status, certification via other ratings systems including Living Building Challenge, EnergyStar Multi-Family High Rise, Passive House, and NY-CHPS, and utility rebates.

 

Sheila also enjoys related professional activities, including Measurement and Verification (development of M&V Plans, data analysis and calibration of energy models), Life-Cycle Cost Analysis, and mentoring colleagues in energy modeling software, ASHRAE Standards, modeling procedures and protocols, VRP calculations, and educating project teams as to the differences in models used for load calculations and equipment sizing versus energy consumption.

 

Sheila is a mom to 3 boys, ages 26, 26, and 25. Yes, they are twins plus one only 17 months apart. In her spare time, she loves to knit, especially while watching Penn State or Buffalo Bills football, Buffalo Sabres hockey, or NY Yankees baseball. Her favorite recharge activity is to camp for a week in the Adirondacks. Sheila’s other favorite activities include hiking, reading, and dancing; i.e. contra, ballroom, swing, and freestyle to music from the 50s-80s – folk, oldies, and classic rock.
